Coping with diabetes is hard enough, but now you also have to learn to inject insulin. But there’s no need to worry. “Diabetes is not a death sentence,” says Michelle Kowalski, a Type 1 diabetic in Phoenix, Ariz., who blogs about diabetes for dLife, a website devoted to the disease. “Taking insulin isn't the end of the world. Insulin is actually the answer to better control.” Diabetics can turn to the insulin pump, which allows them freedom from having to measure insulin dosages and injecting themselves. But many diabetics still rely on injecting insulin into their bodies with the old-fashioned syringe.
