Yoga To The Rescue (YTTR) was created by Amy Luwis, a yoga enthusiast who researched yoga instructors, involved her friends in yoga poses, and came up with a catch-all yoga guide that's good for what ails you. Don't let the cotton candy-colored packaging deter you from picking this book up. It might look like it was designed for the tween set but this book is truly all-woman. YTTR's concept is simple: if you're feeling less-than-amazing, there's a yoga pose for that. Feeling a little flabby? There's a yoga pose for that. Feeling like you want to hit the bar for a few dozen martinis?

Yoga for the desk jockey
Whatever industry we work in, day-to-day stress about projects, deadlines and customers is enough to make us all wish we were instead in a restorative yoga class, sweaty and wrung out and draped over a bolster. Similarly, mid-afternoon energy slumps (which we usually combat with over-caffeinated drinks and sugary snacks) often make us long for the energized feeling we get from doing a few sun salutations. Yoga isn't just for Dallas' bendy, young and graceful
It’s about so much more than the physical practices. After all, asana is just one of the eight limbs of yoga outlined by the sage Patanjali. The goal of yoga isn’t to get your foot behind your head, although that can be a small, novel benefit of long-term practice. The goal of yoga is to find out who you are. So, start where you are, whatever your particular needs, strengths and limitations. And be realistic: Just because yoga is for everyone doesn’t mean we all belong in a Bikram or Ashtanga class, especially at first.

Partner Yoga Pose: Down Dog Scorpion
Backbends top my list of favorite yoga poses. It feels great to arch my spine and stretch through my abs and chest. Some backbends are more challenging than others though, like Scorpion. Since it involves balancing on your forearms as well as bending your back, you might need a little help getting into it. You can do Scorpion on a ball or in front of a couch, but if you have a friend nearby, give this partner pose a try.
